In the continuous casting process, the tundish is not only considered as a transitional vessel for buffering, storing molten steel, diverting flow and realising continuous casting in multiple furnaces, but also has important metallurgical functions. At present, most of the baffle walls, baffle dams and turbulence controllers and other combination of flow control components to improve the flow of liquid steel in the ladle, reduce the volume of the dead zone in the ladle, prolong the residence time of liquid steel in the ladle, so that the non-metallic inclusions are fully uplifted to remove, to achieve the purpose of purifying the molten steel. This combination of flow control structure can meet the needs of smelting common varieties of steel, but for the smelting of special steel and clean steel, particles in the 50μm inclusions are difficult to remove together. In order to further play the metallurgical function of the tundish, metallurgical workers have done a lot of research work on the enhancement of the tundish metallurgical function, such as liquid steel filters, liquid steel heating, gas curtain baffle wall and other technologies. A company developed a kind of argon blowing function of the tundish nozzle well brick, in the water mouth above (around ladle plug stick) to form a ring-shaped air curtain, in order to achieve the removal of non-metallic inclusions in steel to improve the quality of billet, to prevent the mouth of the water tumour clogging, to ensure that the continuous casting production of the purpose of the line.
1.Tundish well block structure
Inside the ordinary tundish well block, pre-buried into a number of breathable elements, see Figure 1. breathable elements for high-temperature firing of ceramic rods with a directional through the aperture, the internal distribution of a number of tiny through the hole, see Figure 2. Breathable elements of the lower part of the channel through a ring-shaped connection, to keep each other unobstructed, the ring-shaped channel and the inlet pipe is connected to the air intake tube connected to the air source, to provide the gas required for the work.
2.Tundish well blockworking principle
The tundish well block into the inert gas, the gas through the ceramic rod through the internal tiny aperture, blown into the tundish, the gas in the plug around the rod to rise and escape, the use of airflow rise in the injection hole above the formation of a ring-shaped air curtain barrier, as shown in Figure 3. This ring-shaped air curtain barrier in a large number of tiny bubbles and non-metallic inclusions in the liquid steel particles collision and capture, and then drive the non-metallic inclusions upward to remove them, improve the cleanliness of the liquid steel.
The tundish well blocks and the flow stabiliser, tundish slag wall, etc. used in conjunction with the removal of non-oxide inclusions in steel has the best effect, and can effectively remove non-oxide inclusions in the liquid steel below 50μm (removal rate of more than 90%), which can achieve the effect of purifying the liquid steel and improving the quality of continuous casting billet. The use of tundish well block, can effectively prevent the occurrence of aluminium sedated steel pouring submerged entry nozzle flocculation, for the smooth progress of continuous casting production to provide a guarantee.
